A woman is beaten every 9 seconds in this country. Domestic Violence is the leading cause of injury to women. One of two women will be abused during their lifetime. Over 53% of male abusers also beat their children. You have options: Domestic Violence Shelter Services Include: Shelter, staffed 24/7 24 hr. hotline food/clothing individual support support groups referrals to community agencies legal advocacy crisis intervention court accompaniment children's programs Safety Plan: If you are concidering leaving an abusive situation, having the following in an easily accessible place will be useful: Cash Important papers medicaid cards bank info lease or deeds car registration prescriptions medications court orders birh certificates social security cards keys to house/cars important phone numbers extra clothing Community Education Homesafe would be delighted to provide speakers for your group or organizations regarding domestic violence. Volunteers are needed for a myriad of reasons including office work, attorney services, professional counselors, painting, wall papering, outside lawn maintenance, and fundraisers.
